Call of Siva

Singing, Dancing, Saluting with folded hands
Holy Annamalai,
Makes our Karma-burden flee!

(Thirunavakkarasar)

Pradosam today. Sivaratri tomorrow.

To settle into the silence of Sivaratri. what better than a trip to Arunachala!

Here is a picture tour… Some pictures that I took this year… Five views of Arunachala… And below each picture is given one verse of Arunachala Pancharatna composed by Sri Ramana Maharshi…

First pic: Arunachala, seen in the backdrop of the western outer wall of the big Arunachaleshwara temple…

Second : One of the many temples in Tiruvannamalai.. At the foot of Arunachala…

**

Third: Just Arunachala!

**

Fourth: A long shot… Lovely Arunachala…

**

Fifth: Arunachala, wearing clouds…. Seen from inside the old (Aadi) Arunachaleshwara temple…

I liked the 4th shot most🙂. Notice how the green aliveness successively becomes darker and darker, and ultimately, merges into the grayish mountain.

And with the post standing there -slightly off the center- resembling trident, just like an alamkar, picture perfect!

‘Breath taking’ is the word, no wonder then, the corresponding sloka says, रूद्धप्राणेन. Coincidence…right?🙂
