View from Ganga

Friend of mine who had seen the posts “Call of Kali – 1” and “Call of Kali – 2” in this blog, mailed me some photographs. These are of Dakshineshwar and Belur Mutt. He had taken them from a boat in the Ganga.

Good pictures….

Here they are… Click on the pictures, to enlarge and view…

And last… Belur Mutt….

Reading ‘The Gospel of Ramakrishna’ by M made me feel these places would be somewhat old-ish and well, appear to be have an air of genteel poverty. These buildings on the other hand look like they got World Bank funding.

Dakshineshwar temple was built by Rani Rashmoni, who surely had the grace of Durga-Lakshmi-Saraswati.

If you do visit it, you would find the temple complex just as described by M. Its all the same. I found I could recognize the places by what I had read. The wealth is that of spirituality. Compared to that, it is World Bank that is the one to be associated with “genteel poverty” 🙂
